What type of information do we collect?

Please view the previous section. We collect any data submitted through our site.

How do we collect information?

When data is submitted through the "Contribute" page, the following might happen:

1. The data is stored in a database.

2. The data is reviewed by an "admin" - an MIT Class, Awareness, Support, and Equality (CASE) executive member or Thrifty committee member with admin access to the Thrifty admin portal. It is possible that the submission is never reviewed nor approved.

3. The admin and CASE can delete, modify, manipulate, or otherwise use whatever data is submitted to the thrifty platform at their discretion. This might sound scary, but we're really just making sure there is nothing inappropriate posted on the site.

4. If the submission is approved, and possibly edited, it is marked to be made public and displayed on the main "Search" page, where it is now available to the public and can be accessed in any way.

What happens when a resource (contribution) is submitted?

We collect such information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the Services;

  2. To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred Non-personal Information, which we or our business partners may use to provide and improve our respective services;

  3. To comply with any applicable laws and regulations.

  4. To display contributions, or submissions, on the public Search page.

  5. Internally, among CASE, to determine if there is an unmet need in the MIT community.
