Privacy Policy

Welcome to Thrifty. We (CASE, thrifty) provide free searchable anonymously crowd-sourced resources and a platform for submitting draft resources anonymously ("Services"). The resources ("Content") are reviewed by us before publication. Please read these terms as well as our Privacy Policy, because these terms govern your use of this platform and its Services.

Terms

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. Note that this includes search text and search filters in the "Search" or "thrifty" page as well as any data submitted in the "Contribute" page.

In addition, since our site is hosted on the Wix.com platform, Wix.com may collect any information it deems useful for the functionality, performance, and value of our site. We, through Wix.com's platform software tools, may measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. To view the scope of information that may be collected by Wix.com, please read Wix.com's privacy policy at https://www.wix.com/about/privacy

What type of information do we collect?

Please view the previous section. We collect any data submitted through our site.

How do we collect information?

When data is submitted through the "Contribute" page, the following might happen:

1. The data is stored in a Wix.com database.

2. The data is reviewed by an "admin" - an MIT Class, Awareness, Support, and Equality (CASE) executive member or Thrifty committee member with admin access to the Thrifty wix.com admin portal. It is possible that the submission is never reviewed nor approved.

3. The admin and CASE can delete, modify, manipulate, or otherwise use whatever data is submitted to the thrifty platform at their discretion. This might sound scary, but we're really just making sure there is nothing inappropriate posted on the site.

4. If the submission is approved, and possibly edited, it is marked to be made public and displayed on the main "Search" page, where it is now available to the public and can be accessed in any way.

What happens when a resource (contribution) is submitted?

We collect such information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the Services;

  2. To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred Non-personal Information, which we or our business partners may use to provide and improve our respective services;

  3. To comply with any applicable laws and regulations.

  4. To display contributions, or submissions, on the public Search page.

  5. Internally, among CASE, to determine if there is an unmet need in the MIT community.

Why do we collect such information?

Our site is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to host and display this information for the general community. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

How do we store, use, share and disclose our site visitors' personal information?

However, we should not have any of your contact information, and we do not have user accounts. Thus, we will likely never contact you.
